The short version: I am a writer based in Leeds. My collection of very short fiction, How the Light Gets In, will be published by Influx Press in 2016. In 2014 I was Writer in Residence at the UK Young Artists Festival Leicester and won a SHINE Emerging Artist Bursary to produce an immersive storytelling installation for Leeds Light Night. I am also a freelance reviewer, blogger, copy-writer, editor, reader and creative-writing teacher. If you are interested in collaborating in any way, get in touch.
The not-so-short version: Before Leeds, I lived in London, and am firmly attached to both places, both in fiction and in ‘real life,’ an attachment that is central to my forthcoming collection of very short fiction, How the Light Gets In. In 2013 I won short story competitions run by Spread the Word and Cinnamon press and have also been published in magazines such as Litro, Aesthetica, Annexe Magazine and The View From Here. I hold an MA (with Distinction) in Creative and Life Writing from Goldsmiths, University of London and BA in Modern History from Oxford. I speak French, play the piano, run, swim and walk. I spend most of my days doing marketing and social media for The Victoria Theatre, Halifax and Calderdale Council.
“It honestly took my breath away, and reminded me what it’s like to become a reader for pleasures sake again – I was immersed in the world of her character’s. It was so refreshing to see the world I recognise on the page, three dimensional and uncompromising in tone. I have no doubt that we are in the presence of a great talent. Top notch storytelling, and a most deserving winner.” Courttia Newland, Spread the Word Writer’s Prize 2013 Judge and Editor of Edgeways Anthology
